Polycoat PC-220 – Single-Component Waterproofing Urethane Membrane
Moisture-Cured Elastomeric Waterproofing Base Coat for Decks, Concrete & Metal
PC-220 is a single-component, liquid-applied, moisture-cured aromatic polyurethane elastomeric waterproofing membrane — the proven base coat for pedestrian deck coating systems. Applied directly to wood, plywood, concrete, or metal substrates, PC-220 creates a seamless, flexible waterproofing layer that forms the foundation for a durable, decorative deck coating system.
Available in Gray and Tan base colors, in 1 Gallon and 5 Gallon pails. Note: PC-220 is not UV stable and requires a topcoat — flakes, quartz broadcast, or a solid-colour polyurethane or polyaspartic coating.
Typical Deck Coating System
- Base coat: Apply PC-220 at approximately 50 sq ft per gallon. Allow to set up enough to walk on (24–48 hours).
- Broadcast coat: Apply a second coat of PC-220 and broadcast 100% decorative flakes or quartz granules into the wet coating.
- Topcoat: Apply a clear protective polyurethane (e.g. PPG Pitthane) or polyaspartic (e.g. CHEM1000PG) topcoat over the broadcast layer.
Key Features
- Single component — no mixing, no pot life concerns; ready to apply straight from the pail
- Moisture-cured — cures using ambient humidity; no separate catalyst required
- Seamless waterproofing membrane — liquid-applied for a continuous, joint-free waterproof layer
- Elastomeric — flexible membrane accommodates substrate movement and thermal expansion
- Economical — cost-effective base coat for pedestrian deck systems
- Available in Gray & Tan — two base colours to suit different topcoat and broadcast combinations
- Optional curing accelerator: PC-50 Accelerator available to speed cure time
Compatible Substrates
- Wood and plywood decks
- Concrete surfaces
- Metal substrates
Performance
- Seamless waterproofing — eliminates joints and seams that are common failure points in traditional deck waterproofing
- Flexible membrane — moves with the substrate to resist cracking over time
- Broadcast-ready — second coat accepts 100% flake or quartz broadcast for a decorative, slip-resistant finish
- System-compatible — engineered as the base layer for a complete polyurethane or polyaspartic deck coating system
Important: PC-220 is not UV stable. A protective topcoat (polyurethane or polyaspartic) must be applied over the broadcast layer.
